I began crocheting in early 2015, and it quickly jumped from a hobby to an obsession.  What started out as a skill learned to make one pair of flip flops for my soon-to-be nephew soon became a passion of mine.  Crocheting makes me feel close to my mother, who lives several states away from me, and to my grandmother, who passed away in 2014.  My grandmother crocheted for much of her life, and she taught my Mom.  Because of the distance between us, I learned through YouTube tutorials instead of my own Mom, but we text each other all the time about what we're currently working on.  Most of the time when I crochet, I think about how much I wish I could have shared this hobby with my grandmother.

I started selling crocheted items both to give myself an excuse to crochet more often and as a reason to hone my skills.  Selling has definitely paid off for me, both literally and figuratively!

At Kate's Crochets, I focus on making my customers happy.  Just about everything I make can be custom-designed to best fit your own personal style.  If you don't see what you want in the shop, feel free to visit my Facebook group, where I share many more of the projects that I'm working on and are available for sale.

I strive to use high-quality, durable yarn.  Most of the items in the shop are made from acrylic, cotton, or a combination of the two - so they're machine washable (on the gentle cycle) and dryer safe (although some shrinkage may occur).  Whether it's a phone cozy, a set of coasters, or baby clothes, the stuff you buy is bound to get dirty some time, and knowing how much I hate hand washing too many things, I make sure that everything is machine washable.  Of course, there is always a risk that something will snag in the wrong place, so I always recommend using a garment bag and washing on the gentle cycle.  Air drying is generally safer as the heat of the dryer may cause your items to shrink.

Everything made at Kate's Crochets is 100% handmade by me, Kate.  I live in a smoke-free, pet-free home on the Maryland side of the Washington, DC area.  At this time, I can only ship to the United States.  Please feel free to contact me via e-mail or the contact form above with any questions that the FAQs don't answer for you.
